The first 'good' rain of the season in Delhi on July 12th exposed the world class design of Delhi Metro Stations. This is the main entrance of Pragati Maidan Metro station filled with water.
Look at the knee deep water people had to go through to enter the Metro station. All of them including the women, the children and the old or the sick. This had happened so the Delhi Metro Authorities should have made some alternate arrangements for the entrance to avoid inconvenience to the commuters. But on the contrary they became adamant to let people in when an alternate way was found by the common people.
It so happened that one person saw a Metro employee coming out of the gate which is at a perpendicular direction to the main gate but very near to it on the right side. The shutter was open about 3 feet from the ground. When some of them tried to enter it they were pushed back by the security men. What followed was the long arguements between commuters and the authorities. The authorities were arguing about the security and the people were suggesting closing the other gate submerged in water and let people enter from this gate only. There was only a small distance from this gate to place where the metal detector gate was placed and the que of people could have been easily guided towards it under 2 of the security personnel. People who were scared of the dirty water which they had to go through were at pain explaining this to the adamant authorities. Look at the second video.
